Projects of Khamgar Druk Dharmakara College

Hostel under construction

We have 130 monks and 60 of them are young monks. We are facing acute shortage of rooms. Trulku Popa Rabjam took the responsibility to build a new hostel for the young monks of the institute. The outside structure of the hostel is now almost complete. However, the inside part of the hostel is incomplete which is responsible to the institute itself. The inside materials are beds, mats, tables, and kitchen materials. Make a contribution for these materials.

Solar hot water and solar cookers

Currently we are using two propane tanks a day to cook food and provide tea for the 130 monks of Khamgar Druk College.We would like cut our emissions by using solar hot water and solar cookers. Please, make a contribution towards our solar project. The cost for conversion is nearly $5000 US.

Water filter

As many of you know, safe drinking water is vital to good health. We don’t have any water filter or water cleaner for the monks. We would like to purchase an inline UV water filter for the monastery’s kitchen. The cost of this project is approximately $1500 US.

Generator

The electricity is not always available in the institute. Sometime it goes off during prayer session and self-study. We require purchasing a generator for the institute. The cost for the project is around fifty thousand (50,000) rupees (Indian currency)

Mics and Sound System

We also require a sound system or mic system for our institute. Currently we don’t have any sound system. We would like to purchase wall speakers and mics. We need it during our program and teaching. The cost of this project is nearly five hundred thousand (500,000) rupees (Indian currency).

Medicines

The big monks have to buy medicines their own. If anyone likes to sponsor for their medicines for one month and so on, we heartily welcome. The monthly cost of medicines for the big monks is five thousand (5000) rupees (Indian currency).

Photo-State

We need a photo-state in the office of the institute. We very often require copying books and texts in large quantity for the monks and institute. The cost of this project is around seventy thousand (70,000) rupees (Indian currency).

The monthly expenses of Khamgar Druk Dharmakara College(KDDC)

Monthly expense for food is one hundred and thirty thousands (130000) rupees(Indian currencies). It included charges of water and electricity. We have 130 monks. We have two hired teachers. Their monthly payments account for ten thousand (10,000) rupees (Indian currencies). Monthly expense for tooth-past, tooth-brush and medicines for young monks is five thousands (5000) rupees (Indian currencies). Monthly expense of office usages-(ink (for printer), paper, charge of telephones, fax, internet,) is five thousand (5000) rupees(Indian currencies).

Source of income:

Our institute does not have any particular sponsor. Khenpo Zangpo Bodh, Khenpo Jampa Yonten, and Nyerpa Lhundup Palden raise funds for the institute mostly by means of donation.

Appeal and Request

We plead to all individuals and organizations to donate funds for the various projects described above. Please make checks/drafts in favor "Khamgar Druk Dharmakara College." A receipt will be issued for every contribution and donors will be kept informed of the progress of our projects. Our monks will pray for your good wishes and health life. .
